Now, does this mean a damn thing in the grand scheme of the not-yet-leaked album's sound? no, it doesn't. They too can grow up, try new sounds, etc. I think the duo simply realized that their shtick doesn't have to be Alice constantly screaming over Ethan's chiptune production in a way that sounds as if it was recorded on a Subway Train beside a sleeping homeless person. It's more accessible than their previous work, certainly, but this newfound 'accessibility' that we're seeing from certain Indie groups (especially the experimental ones) doesn't seem to be hurting any of them (Grizzly Bear, Animal Collective, Dirty Projectors to name a few). 'Celestica' is an obvious detour from the nut-job (indie girl nutcase) screaming of their debut, but it still falls in line with what I consider a CRYSTAL CASTLES SONG to be the feel is still there, and it's great. Not to mention that they somehow turned a Spanish Death From Above sample into one of that year's catchiest songs: ' La cocaina no es buena para su salud' (' Untrust Us').
